I'm thinking about picking up an MTZ and would like to know how the Raven internal mixer is getting along with PT folder tracks. When you open and close folder tracks in the mixer does the Raven mixer update and follow the tracks that PT displays? I want to be able to use a memory location with the project folded into folder tracks and open and close them as an alternate way of project navigation, basically spilling the folder tracks.

yeah, folder tracks work great in the RAVEN Internal Mixer and PT sends the data exactly how they are shown at the time. However I find folder just add an extra step to view tracks so I only use them for things like bg vox or efx sends that I never need to see again. Having everything in folders just gets really cumbersome as I just end up having to open and close them all them the time. I suppose they are more useful for Movie and post mixing where there are 1000s of tracks. Memory Locations track show/hide is just so much slicker and doesn't need an extra folder track that takes up space.

Good news, thanks Jamey! Any chance you could post a pic or quick video of folders opened and closed in the Raven internal mixer? I'd like to see what that looks like.
I love working with routing folders and have converted all of my projects and templates to use them. Just a workflow preference, but I definitely prefer using them for hiding and showing tracks vs memory locations. In my templates the routing folders don't actually add any extra tracks because the folders take the place of aux tracks.
Also, am I right in thinking that I'll be able to assign the Shift-F shortcut to a gesture to be able to quickly select and open/close folders?

Bumping this up, want to see if someone could post a couple of quick pics of a routing folder closed and then opened in the Raven internal mixer? I don't have access to a Raven to try it out and really want to see what the Raven mixer looks like with folders before I pull the trigger on an MTZ.
Thanks!

Originally I thought this was going to be a cool feature in PT but lately I find the Folder tracks just add an extra step, having to constantly open folders to make a simple move is a workflow killer for me. I use the folders for basic stuff like bg vocals that are more set and forget style, but stopped using them for ever type of group. Here is a video anyway of the Folder tracks workflow with RAVEN. Using Memory Locations "Track Visibility" is much better way of keeping organized for me and doesn't take up extra tracks for the folders in my sessions. slate.boards.net/thread/1725/fader-groups-new-slate-vlog

That's perfect thanks Jamey!
I'll definitely use memory locations/track visibility along with folder tracks, I think they make a great combination.
