Hi Jamey and Trevor,
Well, I'm that guy that just bought the "old" MTi. I'm still in the window to return it if want, but it'll put me at the end of the line to get one when Sweetwater gets them, so I need to understand the differences. I can see the case is different, it looks like the glass is flat to the edge of the case like an Apple Thunderbolt monitor. Are there any other major differences in quality or functionality? Is the actual screen as good? Still runs cool? Lasts as long?
Is the "improved fader response" due to the screen or the software? I assume 3.0 will run just as well on this "old" MTi.
Thanks, brian

It looks like the key difference between the original MTi and the MTi 2 is the casing. This is to significantly lower the cost of the MTi 2.
However, everything else functionality and response wise is the same.

What does "custom capacitive screen" mean? And what will that mean in actual usage?

Brian, I think there is something to be said about the MTi 1, since it has been out so long and we know it's reliability and accuracy.
I am a fan of the sturdy aluminum Bezel in the MK1.
I have yet to test an MTi2 so I can't say if it is better or worse. I have a feeling it will be very similar as far as speed and accuracy.
So If u wanted to save a couple bucks u could return and wait.. I will be holding on to my MTi1 for sure..

I think I will get on the list for a 2... The VESA mounting throws it over the top for me. And I like the sleekness of how it looks without the big bezel.

Any chance the owners of the « old » MTi get access to V3 of the software?

Hi All, Here is some info on what is going on. - We got rid of the expensive aluminum frame. This makes the MTi1's quite a bit more robust and sturdy. Aside from some technical improvements we also wanted to make the MTi2 more affordable. This meant taking production over seas. - The MTi1 and 2 are not cross compatible. If you have an MTi1 it will NOT work with a MTi2 in a dual setup. For that reason we are offering "special" pricing to current RAVEN owners who want to purchase a second. If this interests you please contact me at trevor@stevenslate.com - Raven 3.0 will be available for all RAVEN users FREE of any upgrade fees. If you are interested in adding a additional DAWs it will be a small extra fee for the licenses as it is now. - More info can be found here www.slatemt.comWe hope everyone is as excited as we are! You all will have some awesome updates within the next few weeks! Kind Regards, — Trevor Fedele Product Specialist Slate Media Technology // Slate Digital LLC trevor@stevenslate.com
