Greetings Raven Forum!
I am looking seriously at these products. I have a few different system I use depending on where and whats happening.
One of my systems is an Open Labs XXL all in one work station. It is an older unit but is very stable and portable for live gigs and the like... Please see a pic so you get an idea of what it is.
It is a windows based unit using XP... yea I know old school but I am not about to upset my apple cart to update it when it works perfectly... I use Protools, Ableton, Reaper and Studio one DAWs in this device as well as some performance software when it is being used as a keyboard and not a recording work station... Right now I have disregarded the built in audio interface and use one of my Presonus Studio Live consoles as the audio interface for it... mostly the cute little 1602 as it is small and a really nice little digital mixer/companion for this. I have mostly been using Studio One DAW with this as it is real simple and has a nice workflow and is basically a no-brainer to run when I am doing Live sound and do not want to mess with the PC... just load the template and hit record and I can concentrate on the live mix.
My concerns are will this function on my XXL with XP and does it play well with Studio One and Ableton? I like Studio One for live recording and Ableton for when I am doing more MIDI and looping etc... Protools is for studio sessions...
I am considering both Ravens... the big daddy for the studio set in place... the little brother for on the road Live recording and also multi media type events for various playback and recording etc...
Outside events... most if not all LCD screens are next to useless outdoors even in indirect sunlight... can anyone speak to this concern?
Live and on the road... How is the durability of the smaller unit?
Touch screen responsiveness... I play basses, electric and upright and guitars and keys and drums... basically everything... My finger tips have calluses and my XXL touch screen and any others for that matter are real funky about it so I hardly use the touch screen because of this. Can anyone with similar finger tip and touch issues speak to this issue?
I hope to use these with my other systems as well... I have another Open Labs Sound Slate Pro... it's just a hot rod PC (windows 7) and again protools/Ableton/Reaper/Studio One. Then, in the studio we have a Mac and also 2 Mac laptops... the big mac is in the machine room ... Fan Noise etc... any issues with cable length which is about 30 feet?
Hope this is not over load but I am just wanting to know as much as possible about these units...
Thank you!
