I am very confused. I did not know that DP was supported yet by the 3.5 update. Didn't see DP listed in the email. I am however, old, and my eyes aint what they used to be!

The 3.5 update did not mention DP specifically. But the floating window over the big Raven was mentioned and is a significant breakthrough. IMO the big Raven wastes a lot of screen real estate. The buttons, fader and the blank panel at the top could be smaller. The pan knobs don't work all that great for me. The little pan knobs on DP mixer work as well or better. Something needs to give. Slate could make the big Raven smaller for DP and all DP windows float above the Raven or DP make their mixer solo/record/mute/automation breakout. At this point there is a lot of redundancy between the two apps that can't be changed. Also they are very close to having the color integration of PT. The badges on the bottom of the big Raven could be smaller and integrate with the colors of the DP mixer. That would be awesome. DP could break those Color bars out so we could have them anywhere Horizontally or at least at the top. The designers of both apps are amazing but overlook what I think are some easy details to implement. But who knows. I am not a code guy. There may be many reasons why it's difficult. Finally Raven does overlays on the GUI's of other DAW's. They can't do that with DP because the DP Gui is dynamic. MOTU needs to make it a bit more dynamic and break out the components. This could all be fixed if Raven makes a floating skinny floating mixer or DP makes their channel strip a little fatter. lol... The big Raven is almost unusable in DP until the final mix and at that point the only advantage is the giant faders. Those things are way too big for screen. I think the designers were trying to give the old school guys the physical layout of analog consoles. The width on analog channels are determined by physical electronics, fader automation mechanics etc. Screen touch design is not constrained by physical analog design.

PS Labman... DP is often overlooked. Maybe it's just to small a user base. If your feeling slighted go read some of the Logic and PT posts for Raven. The template thing with PT and Logic is not without issues. I prefer the dynamic GUI on DP. I would like to see the option to make everything separates in DP. If Raven and MOTU get together on this IMO it will leapfrog the cutting edge that PT just did with the color integration in 12 and not 2018. If you have ever dealt with AVID you know MOTU as a company is so much better. DP has some real advantages in basic design but doesn't seem to take it the last mile. Actually, PreSonus is getting pretty close to integration with their mixers and Studio One vs.3. PT's philosophy is standardization and consistency. MOTU is dynamic. Logic and the others are somewhere in the middle. I have PT and Presonus. DP is a better DAW for me.

Thanks Labman... I'm a fanboy (fanman) of all things Slate and DP. So the soapbox may get a bit longwinded... lol

Updated to 3.5. I see no real difference. I was hoping for some new programing such as: ** The ability to change DP’s fader modes, (touch latch, record automation on/off etc), and the ability to turn automation read on and off.... INSIDE Raven ** Better sends utilization with the ability to operate 4 or more ends as 4 or more simultaneous faders instead of 1 send at a time. ** Improved custom icons so that there is one folder for DP 8 and DP 9 custom icons. **More custom icons and perhaps even icon templates that a user can customize to allow for custom naming in the graphic to get around mackie protocol naming limitations.

These features would have to come from DP so we can take advantage through the Mackie protocol. The was DP sends automation status of the track will not work with V-Control Pro unfortunately. The way Ableton and Studio One did their sends are how you are mentioning. You can few all sends on selected track or individual sends which is pretty cool feature.
