Hi Guys . I just downloaded and Installed the new Pro Tools Version 2018.1 (before I installed the new vesion , I trashed prefs as I always do before a new install) After opening ProTools, I now find that I cannot open RAVEN (latest version) Upon my attempts to open RAVEN - I am greeted with the selection panel (where I select pro tools 12) .., but all that happens is a red message telling me to first open pro tools >>> but it is already open. This is a show stopper for the Raven Note: I am on MAC - Sierra 10.12.6 + RAVEN MTi-1 Attachments:

Well, guess my upgrade plan to go to 2018.1 today is dead in its tracks.. I know the guys are all probably out at Namm, but how could this sneak up on them. Doesn't anyone talk to anyone over at Avid? I understand maybe being a little behind on being compatible, but at least a heads up that a new version of PT is coming and tell us Raven folks not to upgrade would have been nice.
Anxious to hear the plans for compatibility. Would like to try some of the new 2018 features in PT.

Guess we'll just have to wait till everyone is back from the field trip. Would have been great if one of the demo rigs auto-updated on the NAMM floor...

No reason you can't try the new version if you're on a Mac. Just rename your previous version and install the new. both will coexist just fine. Windoze won't work like that tho.

I ran a backup on my Mac and then installed PT 2018.1 and it failed immediately upon launching Raven. It doesn't recognize the Raven software. I restored back to my original Mac and Raven works fine. The problem is with Raven and 2018.1.

Close PT while the RAVEN is Running. 3. Open PT 2018.

Thanks Jamey, that workaround worked perfectly! Hopefully it won't take too long to get a fix!

If you rename your current version...when you install a newer version the install won’t overwrite your current version. Enabling you to have both versions on your computer. So then you can use either version.

I guess this only works on Mac though.

If you are on a Mac - before updating to 2018.1 make a copy of the Pro Tools 12 app in the Applications folder and rename it to something like Pro Tools 12.8.3. (I suppose if you've already updated dragging a renamed backup of Pro Tools 12 app back into the Applications folder will also work) Then you have two Pro Tools apps in the Applications folder (named "Pro Tools" and "Pro Tools 12.8.3" ) which can happily live side by side. If you then update to 2018.1 only the app named Pro Tools gets updated. You can then launch the Pro Tools 12.8.3 version first, launch Raven and select Pro Tools 12 as the DAW. Once Raven is up and running you can quit Pro Tools 12.8.3, leaving Raven running, and launch the new version of Pro Tools. Raven will then work with 2018.1. I haven't tested Raven extensively on my system doing this but it seems to work okay and as Slate are suggesting it I presume they are reasonably happy with the workaround until they can issue an update.

I guess this only works on Mac though. It does only work on Mac, but there is no need to do this on Windows, as RAVEN works fine with PT 2018 on Windows.

For those of us that impulsively installed 2018, is there a way to reinstall PT 12.3 without overwriting 2018? Asking for an idiot.
