I have MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012; 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1 GB & Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB graphics) running OS X 10.13.2 (High Sierra), which allows me to support four monitors (the MacBook Pro's own monitor plus three external monitors). As noted in a thread I created elsewhere in this forum I just purchased and setup a second Raven MTi2 monitor, following the Slate MT directions for installing the Raven & UPDD software and calibrating UPDD for dual-MTi2 use. Aside from the two Raven MTi2 monitors, my third external monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 940Be, which I opt to display in portrait mode. Using the 'Displays' portion of System Preferences, I made the MTi2 (1) (the recently purchased second MTi2, physically positioned to the left of my first MTi2 monitor - MTi2 (2)) the main display. Based upon how I have my laptop and external monitors physically arranged, I placed the 'Displays' monitors in the following order from left to right: SyncMaster, MTi2 (1), MTi2 (2), MacBook Pro built-in monitor.
Here is a description of my setup's physical connections.
Connections with my OWC Thunderbolt 2 dock:
OWC TB port with a MacBook Pro (MBP) TB port
OWC second TB port daisy chained as follows: Pegasus Promise 4TB RAID array -> LaCie 3TB drive -> SyncMaster monitor (via DVI-TB adaptor)
OWC HDMI port with MTi2 (1) HDMI port
OWC USB port with a USB smart charger hub
OWC second USB port with a second smart charger hub
OWC third USB port to the MTi2 (1) USB port
OWC FireWire 800 port with a Saffire Pro 24 DSP
OWC ethernet port with my router
Remaining connections:
MTi2 (2) to one of the USB smart charger hubs
MTi2 (2) HDMI to MBP HDMI port
There are two attachments to this post: UPDD status screen shot; external monitors screen shot.
First Challenge:
The first attachment reveals the UPDD 'Status' window's recognizing three Raven MTi2s, instead of only the two that I own. The status for the second MTi2 is 'NOK' (not okay). The second screen shot is of the three external monitors. For some reason, the two additional Raven software panel sets appear on the SyncMaster monitor and not on the MTi2 (2), where I expected them to appear. Notice the MTi2 (2) portion of the screen shot does not show the Raven panel sets; only the MTi2 (1) displays the main Raven software panel set. Recall, I set up UPDD for dual MTi2 support with the two MTi2 monitors.
Second Challenge:
In the second attachment, the MTi2 (1) portion of the screen shot shows a rectangular area with no color fill and a red outline. I do not know what this signifies nor how it impacts both Raven's and Cubase's operation.
Third Challenge:
I am unable to use the virtual Raven software power button to 'power down' the Raven software; the 'Hide Raven' button and its corresponding icon in hidden mode to reveal Raven both work. Unfortunately, I need to quit the Raven software through the Activity Monitor each time. Incidentally, this problem arose earlier, before I purchased my second MTi2 and Cubase. I experienced the same problem with a single MTi2 running Raven software for Ableton Live. I did not have a problem in the past with this configuration, and I do not know exactly when this problem surfaced. I am almost certain the problem occurred even before I updated from Yosemite to High Sierra.
I would appreciate your recommendations for resolving these challenges. Thank you.
