I'm glad to know there's now the intention to write specific integration code for DP. However, I'd like to start integrating the MTi into my workflow in the next few weeks (Digital Performer 8).
I understand that for PT and Logic in Raven 2.0, macros have been written using combinations of commands that utilize the menus of those specific DAWs. Pre-DP release, it seems you could use the Raven's ability to write macros to cover much of that ground.
It seems that exactly pixel-aligning the Raven mixer with the PT or Logic mixer is a go / no go critical requirement. Is this possible currently with DP8?
If I buy an MTi today and plug it into the second DVI output of my video card, would I be able to utilize the screen space of the MTi and my current 30" monitor as I would if I had added another standard monitor?
The larger question that encompasses those mentioned above: what exactly would I be able to do and not do before the DP specific Raven software is released?

Hi Audiobox,
Regarding Digital Performer compatibility, until we release a version of Raven for Digital Performer you will not be able to use any of the Raven functions in Digital Performer. In an unsupported program single touch control will work. Many functions within Pro Tools and Logic have been optimized for use with Raven, you will not experience those enhancements when working outside of the Raven software.
The Raven is compatible with multiple displays. All that is required is setting the Raven MTi to main display.

Thanks for the reply, Trevor.
I've picked up little threads of information by cruising the various forums, but came here for more specific answers.
Could you give me a few specifics? Does this mean, for example, I couldn't create macros with Raven for DP? The Raven mixer wouldn't function? Or, more broadly, does this mean I could use touch control in DP as you would use a mouse click and drag, but that's it. There would be no other functionality available.
Could you give a few examples so I know the type of functions you're alluding to?
Excellent.

Exactly, until the Digital Performer build is released, control is limited. Your finger will act as the mouse. Raven contains many unique features to enhance DAW functionality with multi-touch. Some of these include the Nav-Pad, Floating Mixer, Close Plugin Button, Close All Floating Windows Button, Floating/Customizable Tool Bar, Double Tap To Zero Faders... and the list goes on. You can find many videos on the SlateTV page to get an even greater understanding of Raven. Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the specifics. With your permission, I'll quote your answer over on the Motunation site, so the DP users over there know what's up.
Even though the utility of Raven for DP is restricted to "finger mouse" until the DP specific build is released, I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on an MTi. First, I think it will soon become apparent to Slate, how many composers and audio post professionals in SoCal alone are using DP. This will help move the DP build along. It's been loosely promised for September, but we all know how it is with software development.
Second, I just finished the buildout on my new NE design mix room and this is a perfect time to integrate any new components into my system. I imagine I'll need to dig deep and upgrade my old version of PT so I can familiarize myself with the expanded capabilities of Raven, pre-DP release.
Moving forward, I'll stay tuned to the Raven Forum...

Kind Regards, -- Trevor Fedele Slate Digital / Steven Slate Drums / Slate Media Technology / Slate Pro Audio Executive Assistant / Technical Assistant trevor@stevenslate.com Thanks for your help, Trevor. MTi ordered, PT upgraded to PT 11. Man, what an awkward, wanky DAW. Shows the efficacy of seeding the market in a follow-the-leader niche though.
