I'm about to buy 2 MTi2's for my control room. My computers are located about 50 feet away in another room. Are there any issues with the MTi2's running through geffen USB extenders to the computer? Maybe latency?

Maybe latency? That is a very good question. I use a USB HUB for my Ravens and that works fine, but it is only a couple of feet. The Geffen USB seems really nice, so I imagine it will work fine and you won't notice any latency.

I should also note, the Geffen extenders convert from USB to Cat-5. The Cat-5 then runs down the hall to the machine room and another Geffen extender converts it back to USB and then plugs into the mac. I'd be doing the same with the DVI.

I have never tested this type of cable run, but I have used a 30ft DVI extender and that worked well.
I think you will be good to go...

Hey Subcat,
I worked on a MTi2 last week using a USB extender over Cat-5. Everything seemed to operate normally. Be sure to have a powered hub on the side of the Cat-5 in your control room. Extending the display signal over Cat-5 can be a bit tricky some of those extenders have limits to what they will extend. Sometimes they will only run on 1080i instead of 1080p which can create issues.
Please check with the specifics of what you plan to use to ensure full operation. Feel free to post the extender here also. We will take a look. Would the display be going over the Geffen too?
Kind Regards,

Right now I'm using the Geffen Cat5 7000 HD to send both DVI and USB 2.0. Would this extender work? It's specs list: 1080p / 1920x1200 Is there a recommended extender for this sort of thing? Here's a link to the extender I'm using: www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=2799Thank you.

Hi Subcat,
It looks like that should work fine.
