Hi all I just bought an MTi2 and set it up. Everything with the software works great however i can't get the HDMI sound to work. I just want to use it for computer sounds, watching tutorials etc without having to use my ProTools HD system.
I've tried 2 brand new cables but still the same result, also there's popping/cracking from the built in speakers now and then and also when i push whichever of the side control buttons. The only way to get rid of it is to turn the volume down to zero. I don't have an option to choose the MTi2 HDMI sound in the sound preferences in OSX 10.9.5, only "Internal speakers", "Line out" and "Digital out"
Any ideas? I could of course try hooking up the line out to the input of the screen but i'm most worried about the weird crackling noise.
Thanks /Ola

Oh i forgot to mention that i'm using a 2010 Mac Pro which has a mini display port out from the graphics card. It worked great with sound on my Apple cinema display so nothing wrong there.

Must be something with the HMDI to Mini-Display Port adapter I would think. You can try a pram reset as well .e

Hmmm a pram reset? I did a factory reset on the screen but no difference.
Both cables I've tried are full cables with mini port on one end so no adapter.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4. 3. Turn on your Mac. 4. Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. ... 5. Release the keys.

sorry to say it must be incompatible with the graphics card. I also don't have that choice on my Dual RAVENS with a 2008 Mac Pro.
