So the inevitable question. Is Slate actively looking into Apple Silicon support for the Raven? Developer Mac Mini in house? or are you waiting for hardware to come out?
My two pieces of software that I will need to have are the Slate Raven, and Vienna Ensemble Pro. The rest are solved by these two.
I realize the Raven requires a half dozen third party companies to also jump aboard (UPDD, V-Control, iLok etc.), but I'm hoping this is a priority for Slate. I'm due for a new laptop, currently setting everything up with my ancient Macbook Pro as a the host for the Raven and the Mac Pro as a VEP slave.
I'm thinking in the coming months it will be an Apple Silicon Macbook Pro in the host position.

However, I can't see why it wouldn't work as RAVEN is really just a "listening" device. As long as UPDD and V-Control Pro are sending the RAVEN data it will function great.

Bumping this, almost a year later what's the status on Raven Apple Silicon support? This Monday it's a given that Apple are releasing the big dogs in terms of their new chips, like a lot of other people this is going to be the one where I switch.

RAVEN 3.9.2 supports Big Sur and Apple M1. Hey Jamey, finally got around to upgrading to an M1 Air and I suppose I should have asked, but when you said this I did not. Raven 3.9.2 is not a Universal Binary, Raven, UPDD, and V-Control Pro are all Intel applications running in Rosetta. The total CPU according to Activity Monitor as Rosetta Apps bounces when not in use or even plugged into the MTi2 is 7.5-9% Of course this might be misleading considering I'm probably only using Efficiency cores. I was hoping to not load any core Rosetta applications, but I guess the Raven suite of software and Vienna Ensemble Pro slip in. Hopefully Slate, UPDD, and V-Control go native soon!

You will always have to run in Rosetta mode as any app that uses iLok License protection needs Rosetta. Perhaps PACE/iLok will fix this in the future.. But I haven't had any issues Rosetta on my M1 so seems to be fine.

Nothing to write home about but it adds up.

Bumping, almost two years later. What's the status? I feel like Raven is Slates red headed step child, which I was. We were teased with a 4.0 with probably a new GUI over a year ago. Haven't heck but is it UPDD and V-Cotnrol that's holding it up or are the developers working on other things? To be clear the Raven works OK in Rosetta here, but little things happen, I'm constantly having to recalibrate, the Raven transport lost contact with the touch controls, but not the rest of the screen, which doesn't point to a faulty USB connection IMO. I just feel a native version would be ever so slightly more stable.

I just feel a native version would be ever so slightly more stable. Pro Tools isn't M1 native yet and RAVEN requires Python which also isn't compatible with Native M1. RAVEN also barely uses any CPU so a native version won't provide much of a benefit. Also Pace/iLok won't compile on XCode14 so a lot of dependencies required. A native M1 version of RAVEN will not fix this issue, most likely the USB port ID was swapped after restart so could be the hub/dock you are using.. Also if RAVEN doesn't respond to Multi-Touch this means the TUIO ports in UPDD Commander have been edited. Please reach out to support so we can double check you have the correct settings and touch driver. The Slate Media Technology Developers are working tirelessly every single day (even weekends) so that is why RAVEN 3.9.5 just came out 2 months ago with support for PT22, Logic 10.7.5, Cubase/Nuendo 12, and macOS Monterey support. Also, RAVEN 3.9.6 is coming out in a few weeks with new Modifier Gestures, Smart Zoom, Studio One 6 support and tons of Internal Mixer updates for PT22, Logic, Cubase/Nuendo.

OK I'm not sure why Pro Tools needs a mention? out of about ten+ popular DAWs Pro Tools and Reason are set to be dead last for Apple Silicon support, I would not base my support on Avids timeline but that's me. I get the Python reason, it is what it is. I do not agree that Rosetta is more stable environment than native though, any layer of abstaction can bring issues, even if it's as amazingly seemless as Rosetta. I'm not sure how this PACE iLok thing is being handled by every plug in I have PACE iLok with Apple Silicon support for? but I have a few iLok hardware Apple Silicon native plug ins.

Also if RAVEN doesn't respond to Multi-Touch this means the TUIO ports in UPDD Commander have been edited. Yeah, the entire transport bar for the Raven froze, and restart fixed it, another constant issue is losing control surface support to DP11, which literally gets fixed by simply opening up the Control Surface window, changing nothing, and hitting OK. So these aren't the types of issues that come from editing TUIO (which I've never done), or USB port ID's, which is primarilly a Windows thing isn't it? I've never had that be an issue on Macs, mostly in my expereince Mac OS will misbehave with hubs and USB in general on occaision The most blatent example of this is a third party USBC enclosure I bought with an old NVME drive in it that would randomly after a minute or two dismount on Monterey until this latest version, then with 10.14.6 it's rock solid, hasn't unmounted since.

Alright, hit up support so we can log these issues and reach out to MOTU about possible solutions.
