Has anyone with a Core Station considered modifying it to install a retractible tray for a MIDI keyboard? I love having it in my studio but I cant seem to find a comfortable place for my keyboard for when I'm doing MIDI programming. Anyone tried removing the leather arm rest, or am I just being crazy?

I would remove the bottom computer shelf and mount the sliding tray for the keyboard. I am going to attempt this on my CoreStation one of these days.

If it does I want to mod a Core Station for keyboard and add the sit stand motorized. I don't want to buy one and tear it up to find it doesn't work... thanks

Has somebody done this? I was also thinking of removing the leather arm rest (and computer shelf) to create space for a sliding keyboard tray, but I don't know if the wood has some kind of finishing on the front border (after removing the leather arm rest) ??
I have not jet opened the box with the Core Station, so I have not jet seen the real pieces... only pictures in the online guids and video.

If you don't add in the center piece "6" below the arm rest and there will be room to mount a keyboard tray. Just need to be sure not to use too long of screws on the keyboard tray as they will bust through the arm rest. Perhaps using some bolts through the top of the arm rest to hold on the tray would provide extra support.

You mean the piece with the Leather? From the Video I understand this comes mounted already (I have not opened the box jet) This is the piece I mentioned I would take away to create space for the keyboard tray... but I am not sure if the front border of the wood panel has a black vinyl finish or if it's just an ugly wood... no major problem, but I would have to make a nice finish in that case (aluminium angle or something). I have not opened the box jet because I am not sure what I finally want... I have 2 options: 1/ Work with 1 Raven MTi2 and one large Touch screen (together with another 27" non touch screen, so I could build a similar setup to a Z3) 2/ Work with 2 Raven MTi2 in the Core Station, modified with a Keyboard tray. If I decide to go for the MTi2 with the large touch screen combi... I would sell the Core Station with 1 MTi2... so this is why I have not touched the core station boxes and second MTi2. Jamey, what are your thoughts... whats gives a better work flow? 2 MTi2's or 1 MTi2 combined with ej. a MTX or MTZ

Just don't add Piece "6" when you build the desk and you will have enough room for a keyboard underneath and it won't hit your legs. You will just be loosing the little shelf that piece 6 provides. Dual MTi2 is my preferred setup so I can have my Mix and Edit screen always open and easy to touch.

OK, now I understand you mean "Piece 6"... I thought it would be to low with that large arm rest... But I guess I could always put something under the legs to take the whole station up a few inches if needed. (I do have long legs)
So you find that 2 MTi2's gives a better workflow then 1 MTi1 with Ej. 1 MTZ ?

You could take just the top part and get a sit stand motorized stand and fasten to that. The problem is then the Raven would be about 4 inches higher or less room for legs... It would be great if they would sell just the top few pieces...
