Wondering if there are any potential issues with this combination. I've watched some of the videos which all talk about Mac Pros, Macbook pros and Mac Minis and their requirements, but no mention of iMacs at all. Also I read on another board that with the MTi 1 that there may have been some issues using them with retina iMacs -- that the Raven had to be the primary screen and that if you did this combination that you would end up having to run your 5k screen in standard resolution.
Is there any truth to this? Will the MTi2 that I pre-ordered on Sweetwater work with my setup properly? I have an upgraded 5k iMac (32G ram, 512G SSD, 8G video) that I run along with a thunderbolt display. From reading the specs I should be fine adding the third monitor (provided it's not more than 1920x1080-ish in terms of resolution, which I think is the case for the MTI2's)
Can anyone confirm? If it's going to be a problem I would want to cancel my order before they ship (and I don't know when the next round of them are going to go out).
Thanks in advance.

It will run fine with an iMac and the other screen. You will have to drag the main menu bar over to the Raven screen. Also, I am not positive, but the 5k screen will probably have to go to the same resolution as the Raven.

Hi Jaymez
Thanks for the reply. This is quite disappointing, is there any way this can be tested? I wouldn't really care so much about using the raven as the main boot screen, but if using this forces changing from 5k to 1080p resolution it's a deal breaker for probably anyone using a 5k iMac! What does this mean for the other monitor attached to the machine? Do they all have to be set to 1080p to match the Raven?

I am not %100 sure, but I suppose if your monitor card will allow you to use different resolutions on each screen it would work. But I have a feeling OSX would get confused if the screens were different resolutions since if u drag Safari from one screen to the other how would it know to change the resolution..

OSX absolutely allows you to use whatever different resolutions you want on different monitors, you kind of put your foot in your mouth there a bit It's never been a requirement of any kind to have matching resolutions on multiple monitors (unless you are specifically trying to mirror them). If this is indeed an issue with the Raven MTi2 it is an issue with the Raven software/drivers without a doubt and not an OS limitation. I'll ask again, is there any way this can actually be tested by someone there at Slate to confirm?

Like I said in my post I am not %100 sure, since I don't have a 5K monitor I cannot test this for you. But, since you say OSX allows multiple resolutions then I am sure you will be all set. I gave it a try on my Dual Screens as was able to get different resolutions, but when a window shares the screens together the sizing obviously changes. So you will be fine as long as you keep the windows to their respective monitors.. Enjoy your Raven!!

You must be using quite an old version of OSX there, you haven't been able to have a window span across multiple windows for at least the last 2-3 versions of OSX, now they just cut off until the majority has moved over to the other screen and then it pops up on that one, they can't span multiple monitors any longer. I think that changed in 10.8 or 10.9.

And just for anyone else looking this up in the future ... I wanted to chime in and say that it all works fine with my retina iMac now that I have the hardware in hand.

Thanks for posting this, glad it works. I did see one iMac user have couple issues with Dual Raven and iMac, but this was due to a setting in System Prefs Mission Control. "Displays have separate Spaces" should be unchecked when using the Raven software.

Oh that's good to know, I am pretty sure that I'm still using that option on my setup and have been noticing some oddities that this might resolve ...
