I have the opportunity to buy either a MK 1 made in January 2014 right now or an Mti Mk2. I have to make up my mind in the next couple of hours. Are the Mk2s better to some degree in terms of the touchscreen, etc?... I always tend to want the newer version, but the old one is metal and seems more sturdy. But, does it have faults that are corrected in mk2? Help! Would love input from someone who has used both or knows what to do. If you could spend $1k, would you get a used Mk1 (2014) or a new mk2?
Thanks for your quick replies. They are needed!

1k is a good price for the MTi1 so you can't go wrong. The MTi2 has no bezel so it is easier to touch the edges of the screen, the MTi2 also has 10 touch points, while MTi1 has 6.

Thanks God!
I'm sure you'll be seeing me around this forum soon. when does touching the edges of the screen come into play? resizing windows perhaps? Dragging things? Do people revert to the mouse to get around this? Do you prefer the 1 or mk2 personally? I'd def go with the 2 if it had better touch abilities in terms of not having to try and tap a small plugin feature. thoughts on the actual differences in terms of the touchpad?
Thanks again!

Glad to help. I use both screens all the time and, and as far as touch goes, they are both the same accuracy and honestly I don't prefer one over the other. MTi1 will react to touch if a piece of paper or a sleeve hits the screen, MTI2 needs a heat source to react, so it will only respond to touch. You will need to get to the edges to resize windows etc, so I am sure most MTi1 users switch to the mouse for this. Also, to scroll down a screen in Safari or something, it can be hard to touch the scroll bar if the Safari window is totally maximized, however as long as the Raven app is open you can just use a 2 finger scroll with touch. The touch driver for the MTi2 does have some fun gestures that can be played with which I like slatemt.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/216754667 You will not be sorry if you buy an MTi1 right now. Especially if you get a good deal, it is a great screen and works like a charm. If you go with MTi2 you will be waiting another month or so..
