Hey everyone, I'm working with a post studio who is interested in Batch Commander to possibly simplify their exporting, organizing, and naming of stems. The head sound editor asked me to find out if something is possible for the following (either in one or multiple batch commands):
1. Stereo dialogue, sfx, music stems exported as stereo interleaved with a set naming structure (although episode number changes per project)
2. Export to two new sessions and name them, one including stereo stems and one including 5.1 stems, using a set naming structure (although episode number changes per project)
3. Open the new 5.1 session and split to mono and re order to a set order each mono track (like drag 5th track to 3rd position, etc), delete original 5.1 tracks, and then remove all markers and hide comments from edit view
I would be extremely grateful if someone with an in depth knowledge of Batch Commander could help me come up with something that may be able to do all or some of this! Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm working with a post studio who is interested in Batch Commander to possibly simplify their exporting, organizing, and naming of stems. The head sound editor asked me to find out if something is possible for the following (either in one or multiple batch commands): I am sure it could do all of this, but would take some time for you to program.1. Stereo dialogue, sfx, music stems exported as stereo interleaved with a set naming structure (although episode number changes per project) are these stems already printed??? or do you need to bounce them. If they are printed already, then you can use the "SHFT CMDN K" export window and use some different BCs to make sure they have the correct settings. I use one like this for exporting Mp3s.
If you need to bounce the stems then
This can be done with saving all your desired stems to a group, then use "solo group X" batch command. Or you can create a window configuration with the desired stems and recall each configuration, cmmd a and Shift S, to solo them. Here is a video on bouncing groups. note: if you are on PT11HD or Pt12HD then as long as you bus the tracks correctly, the busses/stems can all be bounced at once. This is what I use when bouncing stems when I have an HD rig. So you could make a BC for selecting those different busses if need be.There is also "Copy Session Name to clipboard" BC that can be pasted into the bounce window. So if you give the session the project/episode number it will make it to the bounce. I suppose you would want to add a step where it makes sure the session format is Stereo interleaved or 5.1, and there is a BC for this drop menu that you could use to program if it will bounce as 5.1 or stereo. 2. Export to two new sessions and name them, one including stereo stems and one including 5.1 stems, using a set naming structure (although episode number changes per project) You would have to at some point make sure the "import dialog" is showing the correct finder folder, but after that, BCer could kick in and finish the import, then you would use a "Wait" BC that would wait for the importing to finish. If the session name in "Step 1" was still in the clipboard it could paste that to the new sessions naming.
There are also some "Copy from Excel" BCs that can will open excel and copy the cell to the clipboard, so if your episode and project names where in a list somewhere this could help.3. Open the new 5.1 session and split to mono and re order to a set order each mono track (like drag 5th track to 3rd position, etc), delete original 5.1 tracks, and then remove all markers and hide comments from edit view Click and dragging around tracks in PT is not something the BCer can really do. But something like this could be useful. Hope this helps..
