I'm just about fed up with this waste of money.
Since I got this thing, it constantly keeps disconnecting and connecting. I have to continuously unplug and plug in the usb cable for it to start working again, for a small amount of time. I'm fed up. I have tried everything. Different cables, different ports (EVERY SINGLE PORT), powered hubs etc. My power settings are set to never turn off anything at any time. Today I went out and bought a PCIe USB 3.0 card with it's own power. I threw everything at it and it recognized everything. I plugged in the Raven and IT DOESN'T EVEN RECOGNIZE IT. Is this because it's a USB 3.0 PCIe card? Does the Raven seriously not work with USB 3.0 ports?!
Absolutely fed up with this glorified computer monitor that works as it should 1/10th of the time.
Pissed.

Sounds like a USB power issue to me, but we can take a look at the logs and see if the unit needs to be replaced. Here is the link to start a support ticket for the Raven as it is hard to troubleshoot on a forum post.. slatemt.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=61177RAVEN works fine on USB 3.0 as that is what is in the MacBook Pro I am using right now. Probably more an issue with the firmware of the PCIe card talking to the USB drivers of the compute.

What do you mean by this? Are you referring to the USB drivers of the Raven? Because the PCIe card works fine with everything else. Any suggestions for how I might go about getting the PCIe card to recognize the Raven to help possibly figure out if it's a power issue? Thanks.

I am talking about the actual firmware of the USB 3.0 card as USB 3.0 is not officially supported by apple on the 2010 mac pro. You will find many people with issues on these cards. discussions.apple.com/thread/7952664forums.macrumors.com/threads/please-recommend-usb-3-0-pcie-cards-for-mid-2010-mac-pro.1670239/Please file a support ticket and we can check out a few settings on your system and show you how to check the USB power.

Hmm
Ok, I shall create a support ticket. I do remember the Raven acting the same way on my previous computer as well, so I'm starting to think it might be the unit.
Thanks!
