When i saw the new Microsoft Surface Studio i thought to myself that touch is probably the future but some things are easier made with physical controls, like their new Surface Dial.
What i imagine is using a touch screen with a DAW designed to be controlled through touch. With the touch of ones finger or physical tools like pens and joggwheels.
What if you could just cut audio right on the screen? I imagine myself just splicing through the audio region from top to bottom to cut, and painting a tilting fade line where i want my face, from start to end, having my DAW autocorrect and adding a nice linear fade to the end or start of the audio region. I can imagine this to be a lot faster then using the mouse and keyboard since you dont need commands, you just cut right on the screen like if you where holding a razor. This could be hard to do with just the finger, but with a tool like a pen it would probably be a breeze. And imagine combining this with the Surface Dial or a Slate Raven Wheel? Marking the track you would like to move with one finger and moving it precisely with your joggwheel right on the screen.
But it has to be super easy and smooth, and the DAW have to understand what your trying to tell it to do, with the pen. Like where you really did slice the audio in half. Otherwise the mouse is just faster and more precise.
Please tell me what you think!
I believe Slate have begun something big here, this will probably be the future. Hopefully the creators behind our favorite DAWs start making their software designed for touch.

Hi,
You could setup your UPDD gestures to "break" and "fade" regions. Just turn the 3 finger swipe down into "B" and 3 finger up into "CMND F"
