When moving the faders across, either by swiping in banks of 24, or when swiping and traveling only a few faders within a bank, any SINGLE OR SET OF tracks put in “fine fader” mode will stay in the slot it was in BEFORE moving. Thus, if you had a track in the exact center of the mix board, and put it in fine fader mode, and then moved all fader two to the right, a new track will be in fine fader mode, not the original track you originally assigned Any track that happens to land in the slot you originally set to fine fader, in my example--- the exact middle spot, will now have a fine fader. To test this, you have to manually assign track to fine fader mode by touching and holding the db window. The way this APPEARS when watching my mix board is basically everything moves EXCEPT whatever slot if assigned fine fader///like it’s stuck on that slot.

Not totally sure this is a bug, or just how HUI is meant to work.. I will ask the programmers if there is any way around this...

I have heard about HUI protocols in a few of my queries, such as track naming. This kind of sucks as it STOPS development doesn’t it? Is there ANY company improving HUI protocols or are we frozen in time like we are in midi?

Many controller surfaces still use HUI. Mackie has a deal with many companies, so they have to support it for ever.... Perhaps V-control can figure something out with DP to get longer track names.

Take a look how Chris Lord Alge names his tracks. He rarely uses more then 6 letters. GT1 GT1DI K1 Vox1 BG1. I have been using short names since getting the raven. I have the comment line visible for more info if I feel I need it. Finally using the ICONS in the large mixer works better then colors for me. I have over 100 custom ICONS that are the exact instruments I use. It's a simple process with Grab to make a custome ICON and add it by dragging.
Hey Jamey ask the gods at Slate if ICONS option could be an option on the floating mixer....

Thats a great idea. I know the programmers will jump back into DP development once we get these Windows releases out.
I think adjusting the width of the floating mixer and putting some icons on the bottom would be a great option for DP.

By the way For tracking I am only using the inserts and Aux sends in the Motu mixer which I have sitting above the Floating mixer. That gave me enough horizontal real estate to show a second BC rack. It is already becoming a can't do without.
