I am having a great time with this new surface, thank you so much.
But there is something I do ALL the time, that I cannot do or at least cannot figure out HOW to do...EASILY in Raven.
In the reality of mixing, I need faders to adjacent to each other without regard to where they are in the Track Overview.
For example:
Though the kick drum may be 20 faders higher in the DP track overview list, I need to sometimes have the Kick drum fader right next to the Bass fader.
(Of course, this need applies to any set of faders that need to be within easy reach of each other, not just kick and bass.)
The GREAT thing about DP’s mixing board window is that it is so customizable.
In DPs mixing board window, I can place ANY combination of faders in that mixing board and work with them..all right next to each other. Irregardless of where they naturally sit in the TO window.
(This ability to customize DP is what makes DP so cool and must be what makes programming Raven for DP so difficult.)
Is would so so so love to see Raven be able to place faders in some sort of fader window that allows for exact selection of WHAT faders I wish to have in that window, and in what order. And this means that faders that are NOT adjacent in the Track Overview, can be MADE adjacent in this customizable fader window in Raven..
With this capability, I could have a lead vocal fader next to a harmony vocal fader 35 tracks below it. Without this ability, I have to manually drag these track next to each other in DPs TO window and after awhile, all track are everywhere and the track list is a mess.
I know you may think this is wishful thinking on my part, but please understand, this is very much needed for real world applications where one has to adjust faders by their true AUDIo relationships, and NOT their ergonomic placement in a mix board. It;s software, it should be way more “do-able” than the physical universe where one is limited to hardware mix boards.
What do you all think Slate? Is it possible? Do you have a work around other than me manually pulling tracks out of neatly arranged DP folders and placing them next to each other? Dp you think it is a “good idea”? Can it be placed in the wishlist for Raven>?
Re_ trim mode--
In DP, if I double click on a fader while in trim mode, it immediately goes back to -6 db, which is the null point for trim maneuvers. Currently in Raven, double clicking a fader while in trim mode brings the fader to the 0 db mark, which in trim mode=+6 db. Could we please update Raven to double click into -6 db? When making trim maneuvers, I need to be able to double click AFTER a move, so as to ensure I am no longer making changes to the automation. Manually trying to pull the fader BACK to -6 db is very hard. So the result is I end up having to hit STOP after the part I want to trim in order to make sure I dont screw up good automation. So as of now, it is more efficient to trim in DP> This should not be the case with such a great product as Raven. Does this make sense?
